The Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund

The Stephen Bufton Memorial Education Fund (SBMEF), ABWA's national educational fund, is one of the most highly respected grant and scholarship funds in the country.  For more than 57 years, SBMEF has helped women achieve business and professional success through education.  To date, a total of approximately $16 million has been awarded in scholarships to more than 15,800 women.

ABWA's National Board of Directors serve as SBMEF trustees, overseeing the fund's administration.  Each year, the trustees strive to stretch funding dollars as far as possible, enabling hundreds of American women to receive assistance.

Benefit of Membership

One of the most valuable national benefits of membership in ABWA is the opportunity for members and local chapters and networks to oparticipate in SBMEF.  With such programs available as Business Skills Tuition Reimbursement, Outright Grants, and national scholarships, a variety of options have been created in support of members' and non-members educational and professional development.
